Availability of plants Although we try to ensure that the plants listed here will be in stock, circumstances beyond our control may result in some plants being unavailable. However there are also “late arrivals” that may not be included in the lists. Please tell us if there are other plants you would like to see included in future.
Bring your own bags or boxes for your purchases Cardboard boxes, such as those in which fruit is packed, are ideal for standing plants in when taking them home in your car boot. There are no boxes or bags available at the Plant Fair.
Volunteer assistants Assistants wearing green aprons are available. Some are there to advise about plants, others to complete tally sheets when you have made your selection and are ready to pay. To speed up the process, the tally sheet must have been completed by a volunteer before you reach the tills.
Wheelbarrows Scouts and other helpers with barrows, will be available to assist customers with moving their purchases to the tills and then to their vehicles. Barrows must not leave the immediate vicinity of the plant fair venue as this can cause delays and inconvenience for other customers. Rather use the holding bays to store your purchases until you are ready to pay.
Please tip generously. Our barrow pushers work hard for you.
The Holding Bays Free yourself to join in the other plant fair activities: use the holding bays to store your plants for later payment and collection.
How they work When you are ready to pay, a volunteer will assist with preparing your plants for scanning at the dedicated till. Plants can be loaded once you have a valid till receipt to show that payment has been made.
Plants must be collected from the holding bays by 15h00.
Mini Holding Bays These are available within the plant sales area for customers making smaller purchases who do not wish to pay immediately. Note that you use these at your own risk, as It will not be possible for them to be monitored by Plant Fair volunteers.
Payment Pay for all plants excluding loose bulbs at the six payment points. Prices are inclusive of VAT. Cash, local cheques and credit cards (VISA and MasterCard) and debit cards will be accepted for payment. Customers may be asked to produce ID.
Plant Information Near to the Plant Fair entrance, experts wearing yellow aprons will be on duty to answer plant related questions, and to offer general indigenous gardening advice. Please try to make questions as specific as possible and to avoid keeping others waiting.
Public announcements If you need to make an urgent announcement via the Public Address system, ask for help at the BotSoc stand at the entrance.
General assistance Volunteers at the BotSoc stand will be available to provide general plant fair related information, and to tell you how you can join the Botanical Society.
Refreshments Meals and refreshments will be available next to the Clubhouse. Proceeds go to Munies Sports Club. Please support them as they help to make this Plant Fair possible.
Accidents and emergencies Please report to the BotSoc stand. Emergency first aid services will be available from the ER24 vehicle situated outside the Plant Sale entrance.
Traffic control and Security Volunteer marshals will direct vehicles to the correct parking areas, and help manage the flow of traffic to and from the holding bay area.
